Close Collaboration Aides Thousands of Students Working from Home
The Challenge
The COVID-19 pandemic is challenging school districts to adopt new methods of empowering teachers to deliver remote instruction and ensure students continue to learn as if they were still in the classroom. One tool available to educators is to ensure their students have access to the best software tools available.
To teach classes using applications, such as SolidWorks 3D design and Adobe Creative Cloud, is particularly challenging. Most home computers do not have the high performance required to run these advanced software suites.
Orange Unified School District (USD) was committed to its approximately 28,000 students from 30 different elementary schools, seven middle schools and five high schools spread throughout Anaheim, Garden Grove, Orange, Santa Ana, and Villa Park.
A Solution for a Modern Educational Environment
Orange USD worked with Netsync to develop an Amazon AppStream 2.0 infrastructure in the Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud to ensure the delivery of these high-performance applications continue to all students, regardless of the type of computer they are using at home.
Netsync developed the solution in close cooperation with Orange USD educators and technology department staff to ensure the instruction of students continued without interruption.
The company’s deep expertise helping some of the largest school divisions in the country allowed its team to quickly identify the right tools to respond to the district’s challenge. For more than 18 years, Netsync’s engineers and solutions architects have successfully deployed thousands of solutions for K-12 schools and higher education institutions by working closely with technology partners like AWS.
“Our teachers are committed to providing our students the best education available regardless of the challenges,” said Tam Nguyen, Director of Technology Services of Orange USD. “Netsync stood with our administrators and our technology team and worked collaboratively to deploy a highly technological solution that was easy to use for teachers and students alike.”
Deploying the Amazon AppStream 2.0 allowed Orange USD to quickly provide fully managed and desktop streaming service. This solution can stream applications to any Internet-connected device using a modern HTML 4.0 or higher compliant browser, including Google Chromebooks, Windows operating systems, and Apple operating systems.
